To the top

Mount Gausta, regarded by many as the most beautiful
mountain in Norway, stands majestically over Rjukan
with its 1883 meters above sea level. Each year around
30000 people takes the trip to the top to enjoy the
spectacular view that shows 1/6 of Norway. Regardless
of the weather
you can buy coffee, waffles and food
in the 100 year old cabin at the top
of the mountain.
The track is well marked by red T’s,
and most people
use around two hours on their way up.

Mount Gausta is a wonderful trip, but the Gaustablikk
area has many exciting
hikes to offer. One alternative
is Mount Ørnenipa, a beautiful mountain peak.
Hulderhola is a natural cave in Mount Heddersfjell,
and Skipsfjell is a nice walk
with view down towards
Rjukan. You can buy maps and get information
on the tracks in the hotel reception.
